I managed to watch all three films over a period of 3 days. Having read the book many years ago, I am pleased that these films are a very accurate rendition of the original book.
It is a shame that another series of books have been completely ruined when brought to life as a TV series. I am a great fan of the author Terry Goodkind, and his Sword of Truth series.
When I heard that Sam Raimi had persuaded Terry to allow him to create a TV series of the books, I had high hopes that he would follow the books closely, the way that Peter Jackson did with the Lord Of The Rings, or the Harry Potter films.
Unfortunately, Disney and the ABC Studios offered a deal that was too good to miss, and Sam lost overall control of the way the series would be made.
Because the American writers get bonuses for original work, and not for transcribing the original storyline, they have to change the story to get their pay. Consequently, all the sub plots, and the events that drove Terry Goodkind's first book "Wizards First Rule" at the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next, was completely destroyed by the screenwriters.
Now all that is left is the names of the characters, and very little else. I hope that one day, someone else will faithfully reproduce Terry's story as it should have been made, and Disney's fiasco will disappear, the way the first attempt at Lord Of The Rings did back in 1978.
