Today has been a day where nothing has gone according to plan! Yesterday I received a phone call from someone who was looking to join my business. So I had an 11:00 appointment this morning. This meant i couldn't really get started on sorting out the plumbing in the shower room.
The person I met was a young lad, and although he seemed interested, he wanted to discuss the business opportunity with his mum! I do not think he will be contacting me again!
When I got home, I started to prepare some lunch, and start bringing in some more tools from the garage. While I was carrying some of the tools upstairs, our dog, Bonnie, decided to go for a stroll! I received a phone call shortly afterwards from some people who had captured her. So off I went to fetch Bonnie back, which was about half a mile away.
I finally got to work on the plumbing this afternoon. First I had to drill some extra holes in the joists so that I could pass two copper pipes up into the loft, ready for connection to the power pump. That is when things started to get frustrating.
Although I bought a 3 metre length of pipe, there is not sufficient amount left to cut to supply the extra piping to and from the pump! Plus the instructions for connecting the pump state that the flexible hoses must be in an upright position. This meant I had to go and get some more elbow connectors. So off I merrily trundled to buy another length of copper pipe, elbows, and a fused spur connection for the electrics.
When I got home, I thought I would start cutting some of the pipe and fitting some of the elbow joints. Then connect the pipes to the pump. That is when I discovered that the connectors to the pump require 22mm copper tube, not the 15mm that I had! Grrrr!
So once more I had to visit the DIY store, and this time I had to buy 22mm copper pipe. The shortest length I could purchase was a 2 metre length! I then had to buy 4 reducers to get the 22m down to the 15mm the rest of the piping in the house is. Finally I remembered just in time that I only have a 15mm pipe cutter. So I bought a universal cutter that will cut the 22mm diameter pipe.
After all that, all I have managed to do today is fit 2 pipes from the shower room to the loft. Nothing is connected yet. I am now going to sit down, have a drink, and a bite to eat, and relax Tomorrow is when I start reconnecting the plumbing.
